Quality Employees

Our people make us a leader in the security industry.

Our services have a strong reputation because we hire people who have the attitude and drive to excel in their role. Because cultivating a workforce with integrity and pride is so important to use, we enjoy a high average employee tenure.

Pacific Security Recruitment Specialists thoroughly screen potential officers. To become an officer, applicants must have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Able to meet Washington State Department of Licensing standards.
  • Able to provide courteous and considerate customer service.
  • Able to de-escalate and provide situational resolution.
  • Exhibit integrity, ethical judgement, and professional composure.
  • Maintain neat, well-groomed appearance.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend directives and instructions in English as issued by the company and client management.

Pre-assignment training

Initial training is provided to new officers during an eight-hour orientation session. We go beyond what’s required by the Washington Department of Licensing and including the following in our program:

  • Mandatory driver drug screening
  • De-escalation training
  • Proper report writing
  • Complaint and conflict resolution training
  • Officer safety and preparedness
  • Physical safety strategies
  • Bloodborne Pathogens Training (BBP)
  • Customer service standards
  • Professional standards, including diversity awareness
  • Access control methods

Guards who are hired and already licensed through another company do not have to go through the required training if their license is still active or expired. But those guards are given a class on our policies and a refresher on legal powers and limitations as well as report writing to ensure they understand Pacific Security’s standards of conduct.

Post-assignment training

Once a Security Officer is issued a guard license, they are required to conduct post assignment training to renew their license annually.

  • During the first year of being a security officer, they must complete eight hours of training.
  • After the first year, security officers must complete four hours of training per year.

Pacific Security invests the time and resources to make sure all personnel have the knowledge and tools required to excel at each post. The Onsite or Lead Supervisor consistently monitors and corrects any deficient performances in real time, so issues are identified, addressed and resolved before they become a problem for the client.

Pacific Security Operations Managers develop site management plans to ensure client post orders are met. To promote officer success and retention, they constantly monitor and provide constructive feedback.

Site management plans include:
  • New officer instructions on site details
  • Post order review
  • Job shadowing
  • Performance assessments
  • Access to Field Supervisors 24/7
  • Scheduled and random site audits
  • Assessment of officer comprehension on post orders
  • Assessment of officer physical appearance standards
  • Security team reviews
  • Post order updates
  • Procedural standards
  • Behavioral assessments and mentoring
  • Officer commendation

Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)

One of our most important, in-depth training programs is MOAB, which teaches guards how to recognize, reduce and manage violent and aggressive behavior. While this is not required training for guards, it can be requested by clients who prioritize this type of conflict resolution.

MOAB is a four-hour, in-classroom program taught by at least four certified trainers. It counts toward a guard’s post-assignment training and is overseen by MOAB international. Once the MOAB course has been completed, a test is given to participants and, if certification is obtained, it’s active for a two-year period.

MOAB objectives
  1. Teach principles, techniques, and skills used to recognize, reduce and manage anxious, aggressive, and violent behavior.
  2. Provide effective and compassionate methods of dealing with anxious or aggressive people.
  3. Gain personal empowerment through increased confidence and skills used during threatening situations.
  4. Minimize potential for injury to bystanders and the individual(s).
  5. Reduce fear in stressful circumstances by increasing the ability to successfully react.
  6. Reduce liability risk for inadequate, unnecessary or improper control of aggressive and violent behavior.

International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO)

Not only does Pacific Security possess and maintain a private security guard company license, but all our security personnel also possess and maintain private security guard licenses. We’re also proud members of the International Foundation for Protection Offices (IFPO). The IFPO is dedicated to providing meaningful security training for security guards and protection officers. We believe that education is a necessary and essential part of professional security training and the security officer’s background. IFPO serves individuals, security companies, and organizations that have their own private security staff.
